Schools Brownsea Island Cruise
An hour’s cruise along the coast to land on Brownsea Island - the National Trust Heritage Site made famous by Baden-Powell, founder of the Scouts.
This cruise departs from Bournemouth or Swanage. The route from Bournemouth takes you along the golden beaches, cliffs and coves of the Chines. The route from Swanage takes you along the Jurassic Heritage Coast, past Old Harry Rocks.
The cruise from either Bournemouth or Swanage to Brownsea Island takes approximately 30 minutes. The group can land on the Island and spend the day exploring, then take the 30 minute cruise back to their port of departure in the afternoon.
Brownsea Island is teeming with wildlife, including sika deer, red squirrels and peacocks. It was on Brownsea Island that Lord Baden-Powell founded the Scouts in 1907. The landscape of the Island varies from heathland and forests to cliff and beaches. There are organised National Trust educational trails to join to explore the Island.
At the end of the day, the boat will collect you and take you on the 30 minute cruise back to your port of destination. All our boats are stable and sea-worthy and are crewed by our well-trained highly experienced team. The boats have wide open decks with seating, a large comfortable lounge, washrooms and a refreshment bar.
Educational youth groups travel at child’s price - £6.25. One teacher per 10 children travels free of charge. Any additional adults travel at child’s rates.
Free risk assessment trips available on request.
